Here at Derby City Life Links, we have been working hard to promote our service across the city and let you all know what free support we can provide.
In celebration of World Mental Health Day 2018 on 10 October, our very own Locality Manager, Christine Lawrence was interviewed by BBC Radio Derby live for their ?Drive Time? segment. Christine introduced our service and helped to raise awareness of the support available to all adults living in Derby City. You can listen to her full interview here! Derby City Council were also kind enough to promote us on their website!
Since we launched on 1 October, we have received a great amount of positive feedback from both staff and people in the local community. Here are just a few things that people had to say about our service:
Joe Redmond,?Managing Director of Richmond Fellowship (North) said:
?We?re delighted to offer a space for peer support and building links across Derby. The new Life Links service will complement the other Richmond Fellowship services already operating in the local area and ensure we can reach out to even more people in the community?.
Councillor Roy Webb, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Housing added:
?It is great that residents will be empowered to play an active role in delivering support to others and maintain their own wellbeing?
David Gardener, Head of Mental Health Commissioning at Derbyshire?s NHS Clinical Commissioning Group also expressed his delight at the opening of the new service:
?Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)is pleased to support this joint initiative which recognises the importance of peer support to recovery and stability. The service will be valuable for people who have had mental health problems for a long time, as well as for people who have experienced more recent episodes of mental health difficulty?.
We look forward to getting out and about and supporting the people of Derby. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for further information about Derby City Life Links!
