Mental Health Awareness Week - 10th until the 16th of May 2021. Theme: Connect with Nature

This years theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Connect with Nature’!

This year Mental Health Awareness Week is 10th – 16th May. This was started by The Mental Health Foundation twenty one years ago and they choose the theme every year. Our website (see below) has news on our activities last year if you are interested. The theme last year was Kindness.

During the months of lockdown many of us turned to nature. Research showed going for walks in the open air was one of our main activities to help our wellbeing. 45%of us reported that being in green spaces has been vital for our mental health.  This research is ongoing and is being conducted by the Mental Health Foundation in conjunction with several UK universities.

There is something to be wondered at in all of nature - Aristotle

We would like to hear how nature has helped your mental health.  We invite you to connect with nature every day during this awareness week. Put a reminder in your phone or on your home or work calendar. Every day listen to the birds, smell the freshly mown grass, water the garden or your indoor plants and look at the wildlife and birds.

If you would like to let us know how you got on then please go to our website Have a look at the news tab and look for the title of this blog post and then press the purple button.

We have dynamic and diverse volunteers who help us to move the service forward. If you would like to know more about volunteering with us please have a look at our website or call our info line on 0800 0322202.
