Derby City Life Links and Derbyshire Recovery & Peer Support Service have partnered together to support engagement and outreach for people experiencing mental ill-health to support the development of the uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine. Part of this project includes opportunities for support, encouragement, and exploration of any barriers. Overall, encouraging people with mental ill health to engage with physical health checks and to highlight the link between physical and mental health and explore the benefits of working on both! With this in mind, we have several different ideas and events to support our community to gain understanding, share experiences and take away some self-help tools which may help you physically and mentally.
We are organising a virtual open access session for the Covid-19 vaccination for residents of Derby City & Derbyshire to access mental health support in the form of having a lived experience volunteers and a recovery worker. The session will be for 1 hour, starting with an open discussion of current concerns people are experiencing regarding the vaccine, benefits of the vaccine, hearing about other experiences and how we can support one another.

We are also running a series of online and face-to-face Recovery Education Workshops with all kinds of wellbeing topics related to mental and physical health. You can sign up to one, a couple or all of them! They are free and will teach you self-help tools to utilise when you leave the session. We hope to run these workshops (and more) throughout the year.

We will also be sharing our clients’ experiences: the barriers and concerns they have faced and what has helped them to overcome them, reduce worries along with what and who has been helpful, in the aim of relating to others and providing hope.
We will keep you updated on here and via our social media channels (link twitter and Instagram here), please follow us and share your thoughts.
