About Us
Chronic pain refers to pain that has been around for more than 3 months and isn?t usually curable. Our services include:
- Acute pain: We have three specialist acute pain nurses and a lead consultant aneasthetist to help patients who experience acute pain.
- Clinical psychology: For patients who associate their pain with high levels of distress and disability.
- Exercise: We help patients with a manageable exercise programme that fits around their chronic pain.
The Royal Derby Hospital pain management unit runs a series of pain management programmes throughout the year. These are all attended on an outpatient basis, with each group completing nine or ten sessions of half a day per week.

About Us?
The Well for Life Community Health Hub is a charity whose aims are to promote the physical, mental and emotional health of people in Derby and Derbyshire County living with or affected by HIV. We aim to promote confidence in managing your condition and our specialist Social Worker, who visits on Wednesday, can help with issues such as accessing benefits, immigration and housing.
Well for Life can support you with getting back to work after long gaps in employment through its partnership with JEM (Job search Employment and Mentoring), where you can access free services such as CV writing, IT skills, Job searching and English for those whose first language is not English (ESOL).

Our Derbyshire Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (DEIPS) is for people aged 14 to 64 who experience psychosis for the first time. Some health professionals may refer to this as your ‘first episode’. The support offered by the team may include:
Help with improving ways to cope with worries and stress
Support with learning ways to manage distressing symptoms
Assistance with recognising symptoms early
Support and advice for family members and carers
Discussion and negotiation around the need for medication
Support with accessing education, training, or returning to a working environment
Support with social activity
Housing and benefit advice and assistance.
These are some of the ways the team may support you to keep well.
