Working Together Forum 2021

Revive, Reload, Refresh – Working Together Forum 20th May 2021

The Working Together Forum was a great opportunity to share good practice, learn new skills and catch up with people from all parts of the organisation. Abbie and Kelechi shared  inspirational stories of their recovery journeys while working with the team at Derby City Life Links. Rachel Perkins, who is the chair of the Working Together Committee, welcomed everyone and thanked the team of organisers. We enjoyed several workshops including the Attitude of Gratitude with Anne Pritchard and Mindfulness and Wellbeing with Emma Dredge.

Anne invited us to develop an attitude of gratitude by:

  • Complimenting others
  • Making lists of what we are grateful for
  • Volunteering
  • Doing random acts of kindness
  • Smiling

These are all easy to do and have the potential to change our lives.

Emma spoke about the NHS 5 steps to wellbeing:

  • Connect
  • Be Active
  • Keep learning,
  • Give to others
  • Be mindful

Emma taught us the 4 4 8 breathing technique. Breathe in for 4, hold the breath for 4 and breathe out for 8. We also did a body scan. Most of us were nearly asleep at that stage, it was so relaxing. She suggested we look on the internet at the vast amount of resources available on the topic.

The chat box enabled plenty of feedback as the day went on. There was also the opportunity to ask questions and make comments throughout the day.

It was a very relaxed and informative day and we are looking forward to the next one!
